OUR STORY

Los Angeles is a city where cultures continually meet. Here, art crosses borders and takes on new meaning through different experiences and cultural perspectives.

UEA grew from this spirit in Los Angeles.

We focus on artists from the East and on distinctive works that deserve to be seen by a wider audience. Our goal is to bring artists and audiences closer together—so that a work created thousands of miles away does more than simply travel from one place to another. It can be seen and understood in a new context, and ultimately become part of a new life.

This is the connection UEA seeks to build: between the places where art is created and Los Angeles, with its reach into a broader world. Our role is to help artists and their work cross that distance naturally.

At the other end of this connection, UEA also operates Guilu Art Institute in mainland China, maintaining an ongoing relationship with local artists, their work, and the creative community.

From where art is created to where it is discovered anew—these are the two ends UEA seeks to connect.

FOUNDER

Russie Min Lu is the founder of Unique East Art. A graduate of Zhejiang University and now based in California, she brings nearly two decades of experience in international trade and brand development, along with a deep understanding of how culture, aesthetics, and markets intersect across China and the United States.

In 2026, she founded Unique East Art in Los Angeles and helped establish Guilu Art Institute in Shandong, creating a cross-cultural platform connecting artistic practice in China with audiences and opportunities in North America.

Her work is guided by a central question: How can Chinese art engage the contemporary world while remaining rooted in its own cultural traditions?

She believes that Chinese art achieves genuine global relevance not by simply adopting Western trends or repackaging Chinese symbols, but by developing a distinctive contemporary language from within its own cultural foundations.

Through artist research, exhibitions, visual storytelling, and cross-cultural dialogue, Min Lu is committed to identifying and supporting Chinese artists whose work demonstrates cultural depth, independent vision, and enduring creative value—and bringing their voices to a broader international audience.
