After three months of preparation, the newly upgraded Unique East Art gallery is about to open, and our new website, Unique-East-Art.com, will soon be live.

My name is Russie Min Lu, founder of Unique East Art.

After more than twenty years working between China and the United States, I founded Unique East Art in Los Angeles in 2026 and helped establish Guilu Art Institute in Shandong.

Together, they create a platform connecting Chinese artistic practice with audiences in North America.

Our Vision

Unique East Art focuses on one central question:

How can Chinese art remain rooted in its own cultural tradition, respond to contemporary life, and develop an independent voice in the international art world?

Through exhibitions, digital storytelling, research, and cross-cultural exchange, we discover and support Chinese artists with cultural depth, independent vision, and sustained creativity.

Today, I am pleased to introduce our first three artists.

Chen Jiuteng

Born in Jinhua, Zhejiang, in 1973, Chen Jiuteng is the founder of “Forest-Image Art,” or Senxiangism.

Rooted in Chinese landscape painting, he works with xuan paper, ink, mineral colors, water, and the natural behavior of materials.

Rather than reproducing traditional landscapes, Chen seeks something deeper: the spirit of Chinese landscape, and how that spirit can become part of contemporary life.

Xianyun

Born in Baoding, Hebei, in 1975, Xianyun lives and works in Beijing.

With more than thirty years of experience in art and education, she brings traditional Chinese ink painting into a contemporary emotional world.

Mountains, waves, birds, boats, walls, and architectural structures come together in her paintings, creating inner landscapes shaped by struggle, solitude, resilience, and the desire for freedom.

Chen Siyuan

Born in Weifang, Shandong, in 1967, Chen Siyuan lives and works between Los Angeles and Beijing.

After many years devoted to abstraction, he has recently begun looking back toward Chinese painting and his own cultural roots in search of a new personal language.

He is not abandoning abstraction.

He is rediscovering China from within abstraction.

For Unique East Art, this exploration raises an important question:

After learning the languages of modern and contemporary art, how can a Chinese artist return to his own cultural roots and create something that truly belongs to the present?

His exploration is still unfolding — and we believe that process itself deserves to be seen.

Looking Forward

The future of Chinese contemporary art depends not only on artists, but also on collectors, scholars, institutions, entrepreneurs, and everyone willing to support meaningful art.

We invite you to follow Unique East Art and the artists we represent as we work to bring culturally meaningful Chinese art to a wider international audience.

Special thanks to designer Jimmy Ji for his support in creating our gallery and website. He will also join the Unique East Art team, providing creative and design support for our artists and clients.

This is only the beginning.

Welcome to Unique East Art.

Rooted in China. Speaking to the world.
